North Bali International Airport (Indonesian: Bandara Internasional Bali Utara; commonly abbreviated as "NBIA"), was a proposed airport on the island of Bali, Indonesia, located at Kubutambahan, in the kabupaten (regency) of Buleleng. It was a project initiated by the Governor of Bali, I Made Mangku Pastika, on 9 July 2015. However, this Project was officially removed from the Government Priority List by President Joko Widodo, which was announced in July 2022, and has also removed 9 other mega projects across Indonesia on the same day.....

As reported by Detiktravel.com, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto says he supports plans to build a second international airport in the Island’s north to relieve the “overtourism” and crowding of the leading tourism sites in Bali’s southern regions. In comments made during a visit to Bali on Sunday, 02 November 2024, the President said he desires to see Bali become the “new” Singapore or Hong Kong.....

JAKARTA – Indonesia’s resort island of Bali is set to have a second international airport, with the long-delayed project now being revived under the new administration of President Prabowo Subianto.
A politician from ruling party Gerindra told The Straits Times on Oct 21 that the newly inaugurated president is fully on board with the project. “Pak Prabowo wants this project supported,” he said, declining to be identified because he was not authorised to speak to the media.
The second airport will be located in the north of Bali, in the Kubutambahan district in Buleleng regency – some two hours by road from Bali’s capital city of Denpasar – and is intended to ease congestion at the existing Gusti Ngurah Rai airport and overcrowding around tourist hot spots like Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu in the south......
